2012 Silver Proof £2 - Charles Dickens

Matthew Dent has created a stunning new design for the reverse of the coin. Cleverly combining a contemporary technique with a Victorian image, it features the well-known profile of Dickens created out of type, made up of the titles of his works.  The edge of this Solid Silver £2 coin is inscribed with an uplifting quote, from Dickens’ own favourite story, ‘David Copperfield’. It is the voice of the lovable and irrepressible Mr Micawber saying ‘SOMETHING WILL TURN UP’.

The obverse shows the elegant effigy of The Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS, which has been used on all legal tender UK coinage since 1998.

Inside is a Certificate of Authenticity, issued by The Royal Mint, to guarantee the provenance and the precious metal content. You will also receive a 12-page colour booklet, packed with fascinating pictures, stories and facts about the literary genius.
