1997 and 1998 Silver Proof PIEDFORT £2 Coin Set

A very desirable coin collection on offer which consists of 2 silver proof PIEDFORT £2 coins in a boxed set. These were issued by the Royal Mint in 1998 and have the 2 different portraits of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Bi-metallic coins are Silver with the outer circle being coated in gold plate. The reverse pattern represents four ages from in concentric circles, from the Iron age; 18th century; to the industrial development and then the silicon chip and internet age. The edge inscription reads: STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS.

Encapsulated and housed in the original Royal Mint box with the Certificate of Authenticity, this pair of coins are a must for any FIRST ISSUE collectors.
