2006 George Best £5

A limited edition £5 note depicting George Best at the height of his powers was issued to commemorate the first anniversary of his death.

The notes feature images of the footballer in his Manchester United and Northern Ireland strips and will be distributed by the Ulster Bank.

They were the first commemorative notes to be printed by the bank and one million were produced.

Best fans from around the world were clamouring for the souvenirs, which became available through Ulster Bank branches in Northern Ireland from 27th November.

The Bank made a donation to the George Best Foundation, the charity set up by the footballer's family to raise funds for liver research and to promote youth football.
