Charles II (1160-85) 1676 CROWN

On offer is a Silver Crown from the reign of Charles II.

The obverse shows the third portrait of Charles II, draped laureate head. The legend reads CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA which translates to Charles II by the Grace of God.

The reverse design is the royal coat of arms; crowned emblematic shields with interlinked Cs in angles and garter star in the centre. The coin bears the legend reads MAG BR FR ET HIB REX which is Latin for King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, with the date split 16 76.

Grade:  Fine or below
