VOYAGES INTO HISTORY

The Royal Australian Mint is proud to release this 2002 Masterpieces in Silver Collection, featuring four stunning coins and a Naval Captain's Sash Bade belonging to Matthew Flinders, which showcases four ships that changed the destiny of a continent.

This rare collection of $5 silver coins represents four key episodes in Australia's history.  The little Dutch scout ship Duyfken of the early 17th century brought the first-know European visitors to these shores.  From the 18th century two ships crucial to Australia's European settlment, James Cook's immortal Endeavour and Arthur Phillip's First Fleet Flagship Sirius,  And there's the continent-girdling Investigator on which Matthew Flinders completed the charting of our coasts in 1801-1803.

The reverse designs were created by Vladimir Gottwald, while the obverses display the standard effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.

The coins are beautifully presented in the Royal Australian Mint original own box, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and outer box.

LIMITED EDITION - mintage for this set is 10,000
