The United States Mint certifies that this coin is a genuine 1987 Constitution Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on 29th October 29 1986, as Public Law 99-582. This coin was produced by the United States Mint to commemorate the Constitution Bicentennial.

The obverse design of the 1987 Constitution focuses on a quill pen, a sheaf of parchment and the words "We the People."

The reverse design portrays a cross section of Americans from various periods of history.

The coin is housed in a plastic capsule placed on a blue felt tray within a blue velvet presentation case with hinged lid on which was mounted a plaque of a heraldic eagle. The case is in a blue cardboard box imprinted with the Great Seal and "United States Liberty Coins." A blue slipcover, similarly imprinted, protects the box.  A certificate of authenticity is also included.
