2005 $1 Silver Proof – 1915 Gallipoli

A fitting tribute to one of Australia’s most important historic occasions, the Silver Proof Gallipoli coin captures the spirit of the ANZAC tradition in fine detail.

Perhaps more than any event in our modern history, the Gallipoli landing shaped our sense of mateship and sacrifice,  In 1915 during the Great War, thousands of your ANZAC's stormed the beach of Gallipoli suffering great losses under heavy enemy fire.  This significant event is solemnly recognised on its 90^th anniversary.  This coin honours the ANZAC spirit and the bravery of the young men involved.

The commemorative coin features an image that is a silhouette of a bugler playing the Last Post – a stark and poignant reminder of the many souls who paid the ultimate price in name of freedom.
