2013 1/2oz Silver Proof Bush Babies II - PLATYPUS

The fourth release in the Bush Babies II five-coin series.

The coin’s reverse depicts an irresistible coloured image capturing the uniqueness and charm of a beautiful baby Platypus. As well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the design features a friendly Australian insect and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers.   The Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse. Each Silver coin is housed in a presentation display case and superbly illustrated shipper along with a numbered CoA.

Platypuses can be found living in the swamps, lakes and rivers of eastern Australia and Tasmania.  An excellent swimmer, the platypus spends most of its time hunting for food underwater.  Primarily nocturnal, the aquatic animal is often seen during the hours of early morning and late evening.
